Working-time records: what your business must have in order
Since 2019 every business in Spain must record each employee’s working hours daily. Seven years on, it remains one of the most frequent reasons for fines during inspections.
What must be recorded
The exact start and end time of each employee’s working day. The system can be on paper or digital, but it must be reliable, objective and tamper-proof.
How long records are kept
Records must be kept for four years and be available to staff, their legal representatives and labour inspectors.
What inspectors check
That the record exists, that it is daily and that it reflects reality. Overtime, part-time work and remote work are the usual focus.
My advice
In a half-hour consultation we check whether your system complies and, if not, put it right within days, before any formal request arrives.
Check your system before someone else does.
